Freshman Registration Wednesday, February 15, 2023 | Posted 2/9/23
Mrs. McAnally will host Freshman Registration Night on Wednesday, February 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school Student Center. Incoming freshmen should have received a postcard inviting them to Freshman Registration and registration materials were mailed home and handed out the week of January 30. Students should bring one parent with them to the registration night, as there is not enough room for complete families. Forms to be returned on this night: blue course selection form and pink demographic form. You should upload the residency documents and a copy of the birth certificate before attending that night. If these documents are not uploaded prior to this evening, your course selections will be held until these documents are turned in. The evening should last approximately an hour. Come learn everything you need to know about being a high school freshman. We look forward to meeting you!

Course Registration for the 2023-2024 School Year | Posted 2/9/23
Mrs. McAnally handed out registration materials to all students, 8th grade through 11th grade, during the week of January 30. Registration forms are due back to Mrs. McAnally the week of February 13. She will collect them in the classes where she handed them out. Students should use the online course description book to assist them in choosing classes. It is imperative that students pick classes appropriately by following the pre-requisites listed. The classes offered and the periods they meet are all decided based on the course registration forms. Students should rank the classes they are willing to take, marking the most important class as 1, the next important as 2, etc. Students should not register for a course unless they are certain they want to take it. Schedule changes will be minimal and students may not be able to change their minds later. Therefore, it’s very important they put a lot of thought into the courses they register for. For questions or assistance picking courses, students may make an appointment with Mrs. McAnally. Questions about course registration? Please see Mrs. McAnally.

Schedule Changes | Posted 12/22/22
Students are allowed to change their second semester schedule the first four days after winter break. Mrs. McAnally will have a sign up sheet for appointments posted on her bulletin board so students can sign up for a schedule change. Please remember, changes will only take place if needed. Questions? See Mrs. McAnally

2022-2023 Registration | Posted 2/4/22
Incoming Freshmen will register on Wednesday, February 9th at 6:30pm in the Student Center at the high school. Students were given registration materials at their perspective schools or they were mailed home. Students should bring proof of residency forms, birth certificate, and office registration forms to registration night if they were not already turned in to the school office. In addition, students should bring the green class selection form with them the night of registration. This form must be filled out and signed, as it will be collected that night. If you have any questions about any of the above forms or did not receive forms in the mail or at school, please call the school office at 815-695-5164 and ask for Christi.

Current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will register during SRT the week of February 14. Students will NOT be allowed to register unless the registration form is filled out AND signed by a parent. Students who want to assure the classes they request are what they would like to receive in their schedule should make sure to follow the procedures and guidelines. It is important to remember: registration of classes is the procedure by which students request their preferences, but it is not a guarantee that those classes will actually fit into a student's schedule once the master schedule is created. Therefore, students need to request as many classes as possible so if there are conflicts in the master schedule, Mrs. McAnally will have options to design a complete schedule. Students should also make sure to number their class requests by preference with 1 being the most important, 2 the second most important, 3 the next most important, etc. This way, Mrs. McAnally knows how best to design the student's schedule. If parents or students have any questions concerning registration or scheduling, please reach out to Mrs. McAnally at mmcanally@nchs18.org.

Alert for Students Who Have Failed a Class
If a student has failed a class and cannot retake the class at Newark due to a scheduling conflict, it is the student’s responsibility to pay to take the class elsewhere in order to make up the credit! Permission to take a class outside Newark High School is required before the student registers for the class.
